Taking aim with a bb pistol

Aiming a bb pistol is the only way to shoot at a target with any degree of accuracy. With practice, you can improve your aim to the point where you will be shooting a bullseye pretty much every time you pull the trigger. Taking proper aim is also an additional safety mechanism, because proper gun handling will reduce the likelihood of an accident occurring. Here is how to aim a bb pistol.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A BB Pistol
  • Ammunition for the BB Pistol
  • A Safe Place to Shoot
  • A Target to Shoot At
  • Safety Glasses (Optional, Preferred)

How to Aim a BB Pistol

  1. Step 1

Take position down field from your target. Look around carefully to insure that no one is in danger of wandering within the line of fire. A good distance for starting out with your BB Pistol is about 36 feet, although you may wish to play around with different distances as your skill level increases.

  2. Step 2

Grip the bb pistol. The grip that you use is largely a matter of personal preference, depending on what feels more natural for you. Some people prefer to wrap both hands around the pistol grip, while others like to have just their shooting hand on the grip and their other hand under the butt of the bb pistol to support the weight. Either method is fine, but having both hands wrapped around the grip is the most popular method.

  3. Step 3

With the bb pistol firmly under your control, and with no one in front of the firing line, raise the bb pistol up. Stretch your arms out directly in front of you. Some people like to have their arms stretched out completely, while others prefer to have a bend in their elbow. Go with what feels more comfortable and natural to you. The more comfortable you are in the way you hold your bb pistol, the more steady your arms will be when you take aim. Hold the bb pistol up with both hands and point it in the general direction of your target.

  4. Step 4

Close or squint one eye so that you can adjust the focus of your vision on the sights of your bb pistol. The pistol should have two sights, one at the back of the bb pistol, and one at the end of the barrel. Adjust the position of the bb pistol so that the sight at the end of the barrel disappears behind the other site, so that from your view, the bb pistol has a single sight. Now, position that sight on the target area. You have now taken aim on the target. If you were shooting, this would be wear you pull the trigger.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is important to try to hold the bb pistol the same way each time you shoot. Subtle differences in the way you hold the pistol can effect your aim, so try to find a comfortable grip and use it every time.
