How to Remove a Friend on Facebook

Unfriended Facebook friends can still see parts of your profile visible to everyone.

Facebook friends are your confirmed connections on the social networking site. A Facebook friend is allowed to comment on your photos and posts, and send you private messages. If a particular friend is bothering you, or you don't want him to have access to your profile, remove him from your friend list. Friend removal, or unfriending, takes effect immediately. Facebook friends are not notified when you remove them from your friend list.

  Go to that person's profile, or timeline, in Facebook.

  Hover over the box labeled "Friends" box at the top of their profile, or timeline.
- 3
  
  Select "Unfriend."

Tips & Warnings

When you unfriend someone, you are removed from that person's list of friends list. To be friends again, you must send a new friend request.
