When sending a document you've written in Microsoft Word 2007 to a friend, you often need to save it in a lesser version to ensure compatibility. This article will show you how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Microsoft Word 2007

Step1
The Office Button After completing your document click on the 'office button' in the upper left hand corner.
Step2
The Save As Option Next move your mouse to the 'Save As' option on the office button drop-down menu.
Step3
Final Step Click on the 'Word 97-2003' option and continue saving the document as you normally would.

Now you are ready to transfer the file to someone without Office 2007!

Tips & Warnings

  • If your recipient is still having troubles opening the file, they may need to download a compatibility patch.
  • It is usually smart to save a backup copy of important files.
