Things You'll Need:
- White wine
- Eggs
- Saucepan
- Metal spoon
- Warm plate
-
Step 1
Take a medium sized saucepan and fill it to within two inches of the top with the wine of your choice. Set saucepan on the burner and bring to a rolling boil. Start breaking each egg carefully into individual cups ready to poach.
-
Step 2
When the wine comes to a rolling boil stir clockwise several times with a metal spoon. Reduce heat to simmer. While the wine is still swirling slip in the first egg carefully. The white will swirl around and the egg will coagulate.
-
Step 3
When the egg yolk is still soft and pink on top remove it from the pan and set on a warm plate. Repeat Steps 2 & 3 with as many eggs as you wish to poach. Two eggs per person is a normal serving.

on 2/19/2009 This is a ridiculous suggestion. Boiling a good quality wine is on a par with melting ice-cream before serving! In all my years of cooking I have never come across such a silly idea!If you really want to waste a little drinkable wine, poach the eggs in the microwave with a TEASPOON of wine in a proprietary microwave poacher. What next? Poached egg flambe?
