Now days who couldn't use a little inspiration, guidance or peace of mind. There are lots of opportunities to share a little wisdom or lift someone's spirit.
Select a book, devotional or study guide that you have read. Pick one that struck a note with you personally. If it touched you there is a good chance it will speak to the person you are going to give it to. At least it will give you something in common to talk about.
Step2
Write something personal on the inside cover or first page if there is room. Let the person know you are thinking of them.
Step3
Here's the part that almost guarantees your gift will be appreciated and useful, especially for young graduates, married couples, etc. Place some cash, check or gift certificates inside the cover. If you are gifting someone who you don't think needs any of these or you just can't afford it then write a nice letter and place in the book. The idea is to have a multi level approach. This will increase the chance of your gift being a real benefit.
Step4
Wrap your gift appropriately for the person receiving it. Some books, such as those with soft pliable covers will need to be placed in a box first.
Tips & Warnings
Place you cash, gift certificate, etc. in an envelope and secure to the inside of the cover or first page with a piece of tape to keep it from falling out of the book before it is opened.
If you think someone could use a little encouragement, they probably could, so be the encourager!
If gifting a family member you could stick some family photo's in the book. Place them at key pages so the book will automatically open to that page.
Don't be too transparent. Resist the urge to present a book that addresses a particular issue. Let you effort be to encourage and not to "fix".
If your gift is going straight into a mailing envelope wrap some paper or plastic around it tightly and tape it to keep it from being damaged.
