Things You'll Need:
- 2 2 Liter Bottles
- Scissors
- Aquarium Air Pump
- Air Pump Tubing
- Silicone Aquarium Sealant
- Hole punch
- Drill
- Appropriately sized drill bit.
- Measuring tape
- Brine shrimp eggs
- Salt
- Water
-
Step 1
Measure from the cap of the 2 liter (number 1) to the end of the slope of the 2 liters neck (1). Keep this measurement in mind you’ll need it for the next step. Then cut the bottom off leaving as much of 2 liter (1) as possible.
-
Step 2
Using the measurement you got from the step above adding 4 in measure that amount from the bottom of 2 liter(number 2)and draw a straight line, then cut that amount off of the bottom (2). Save this bottom piece you need it. Throw the top of (2) away.
-
Step 3
Unscrew the cap (1) and drill a hole same size as tubing. Use a drill bit the same size as the tubing. Insert your tubing into the cap about 2 ½ in. Set aside.
-
Step 4
The bottom that you cut off needs a hole that you can fit the tube into as well. You can use a paper hole punch. The hole should be in the side of the bottom. The bottom is still stable enough to stand. Push the tube through the hole inside the bottom piece leaving it inside the cap and the cap inside the bottom.
-
Step 5
Its time to seal with acrylic. The tube needs to be sealed into the cap and the cap back to the upside down 2 liter bottle (1). Apply acrylic to the inside of the cap around the tube and the out side of the cap around the tube. Apply acrylic to the grooves inside the cap and the grooves on the outside of the bottle screw cap back onto the bottle(1).
-
Step 6
Now its time to seal the bottom piece (2) to the upside down top (1). Put a line of acrylic along the inside seam of the bottom piece also right on the seam (raw cut edge)and press the cap side down into the bottom piece. Don’t worry if your tube is kinked u can pull it slightly through the hole ONCE IT DRIES.
-
Step 7
Place it in a secure place and allow it to dry 24 hours.
-
Step 8
Read your shrimp egg directions add all the ingredients and connect the tube to the air pump and you have a Homemade shrimp hatchery.
