How to Send Yahoo Mail in Plain Text Format

This article assumes that you already have a Yahoo mail account, and that you know how to login to check, or compose, your email messages. Ther are many reasons to send your email messages as plain text instead of HTML. Some of them include: incompatibility with the recipients email client software, HTML messages substantially more memory that plain text, Embedded HTML or MIME attachments are the number one method of spreading virus, worm or Trojan programs. With that said, let's move on!

Things You’ll Need:

• Computer, Yahoo Mail Account, and about 2 minutes of your time.

1. Once you are on the Yahoo Mail page, you will see a link in the upper right hand corner of that screen that says "Options". Click on this link.
2. This link has brought you to a page where you can set your mail options. Under "Management", choose "General Preferences".
3. The general preference page has five sections to it. The third one down from the top is "Composing E-mails". Select the option button next to "Compose messages as plain text ".
4. Before you leave this page, choose "Save", which is located in the lower left hand corner. That's it; you are done!
