Sign into your account

Click on Options (it's located to the upper right of the Mail page), then click General Preferences. Where it says "Composing E-mails", change it to "compose messages as plain text".

And, if you want to block HTML from incoming messages, scroll down a little on that page to where it says "Messages", then "Security". Then, checkmark "Block HTML graphics".
