Step1
The first thing you want to do is call and talk to the prospective telemarketer.
See how he/she answers the phone.
Be critical.
Are they hurried or too familiar with you?
These are red flags.
Listen very cautiously and ask all the right questions.
How long have you done this?
How many calls do you make per hour?
What type of calling have you done?
What type of calling do you do best?
Who do you hate calling?
What type of calling do you not do?
What exactly are all your fees?
Do you have any guarantees?
What is the shortest time I can commit to?
Can I see your agreement first?
Can you take my script and tell it to me now?
These are all the questions many ask me on a daily basis.
If they don't ask me these questions, I tell them to.
Interview 2 to 3 telemarketers before you select.
Step2
The second step is to see how he/she answers the phone...this is very key. Are they loud enough/clear enough/talk too fast or too slow?
Are they condescending or rude? These are early warning signs how your calling will go.
Do you want a telemarketer to call from your home/office where you can watch/listen?
Do you want to hire an individual to do it?
What is their environment like? Radio? Dogs? Babies crying? Listen carefully for all this.
What about telemarketing companies? Ask who does the calling, what country it is done in, what accent they may have. All these can affect the outcome.
I am just an Independant Contractor who does the calling myself.

Step3
Listen, listen and listen.
Take time to think overnite about what was said and promised.
Ask to have all that was said sent to you in writing.
Talk it over with a trusted friend.
Have your friend interview the potential telemarketer.
For heavens' sake, check out all references. Ask for 2.
