How to Say Ordinal Numbers in German

When reading, writing, listening to, or speaking German (Deutsch), you will often hear or need to use ordinal numbers (first, second, third, ...) to describe something's place in an order. Knowing the ordinal number words in German will therefore come in handy and will help you to better describe people, places, objects, and things. Becoming proficient at basic and common German vocabulary will help when traveling to Germany (Deutschland) or other German-speaking countries.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    first = erste
    second = zweite
    third = dritte
    fourth = vierte
    fifth = fünfte

  2. Step 2

    sixth = sechste
    seventh = siebte
    eighth = achte
    ninth = neunte
    tenth = zehnte

  3. Step 3

    eleventh = elfte
    twelfth = zwölfte
    thirteenth = dreizehnte
    fourteenth = vierzehnte
    fifteenth = fünfzehnte

  4. Step 4

    sixteenth = sechzehnte
    seventeenth = siebzehnte
    eighteenth = achtzehnte
    nineteenth = neunzehnte
    twentieth = zwanzigste
