How to Accessorize Biking Clothes

Bike clothing has evolved over the years to improve the experience biking enthusiasts. From new synthetic materials, to innovative construction, bike clothing is more comfortable and effective than ever. After you have the basic helmet, shorts and top, think about ways you can top-off your outfit.

  1. Step 1

    Look for bike clothing that's laser cut. The laser cut makes the clothing more comfortable and minimizes bulky seams that can irritate your legs and waist.

  2. Step 2

    Consider the material used to make an item of biking clothing. Typically, bike shorts should be constructed from multiple panels to allow for movement, and be made of a lightweight material that wicks moisture away from your body.

  3. Step 3

    Inspect the seat padding in your bike clothing. They're called shammies even though they aren't actual shammy material. The padding should be laminated in place, not sewn, and the cut should be ergonomically correct for men and women.

  4. Step 4

    Try on bib-style bike shorts. Bib-style bike shorts have a tank top attached to help hold the bike shorts in place while you ride.

  5. Step 5

    Choose bike shirts, socks and shoes that match your bike shorts. Select a solid color bike short, and then choose a printed top with of the same color. Select socks and shoes in the same colors, and you'll be comfortable and fashionable.
