Any rounded shape is good for a polymer clay bowl mold. The best molds are molds made from oven safe materials, such as glass or metal. You can also use your thumb to create a rough bowl shape, that you can sand down into a smoother, rounded shape.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bowl mold
  • Knife
  • Water or oil
  1. Step 1

Decide how big you want your bowl, before you pick a mold. If you want a small bowl for a polymer clay scene you're creating, use a small marble. If you want a large bowl for jewelry or other items, use a medium to large sized bowl, a ball or a piece of large, round fruit.

  2. Step 2

Warm the polymer clay in your hands so that it's pliable and warm. Using oil or water, coat the bowl mold with a light layer so the clay won't stick.

  3. Step 3

Form the clay around the mold until you have your desired bowl shape. Use a sharp knife to cut off excess clay from the mold.

  4. Step 4

Cook the polymer clay bowl in the oven, based on the package directions. If you're using a mold such as a plastic ball or other item that's not oven proof, remove the clay bowl from the mold and then bake.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cover a porous bowl mold with aluminum foil before adding water or oil.
  • Never eat a piece of fruit that you use for a bowl mold. Polymer clay is highly toxic and should never touch a surface where food is consumed, or touch food you'll eat.
