Step 1
Remove the sticks or poles from within the kite. Start by releasing the bridles that secure the poles to the kite edges (usually by velcro or strings). Be careful not to tear the kite anywhere as you slip the poles out of their sleeves.
-
Step 2
Make sure the strings are secure and will not tangle when folding. If they can be removed and re-strung when you want to reuse the kite, do so. Just make sure the strings will be stored where they won't tangle.
-
Step 3
Fold the kite in half along its shortest distance between two corners. This will likely mean folding the top half across the bottom half. Lay the sticks alongside the fold side by side.
-
Step 4
Roll the kite up along the sticks, starting from the fold. Make sure no edges of the sticks will rip the kite when doing so. You can wind some of the strings around the folded kite to secure it around the sticks.
-
Step 5
Place all the kite parts--kite, sticks and strings--in the kite bag if you are using one. Store the kite in a safe place where it won't get ripped or damaged.
