Making monkey sock puppets is a fun craft for both beginning and expert sewers. You need to flip the sock puppet right side out so that the seams are on the inside before beginning to stuff the puppet or sew on the snout and eyes.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Monkey sock puppet
  1. Step 1

Place one or two fingers into the opening between the legs of the monkey sock puppet. While inside the sock puppet carefully grasp the head and gently pull it through the hole.

  2. Step 2

Move slowly to avoid ripping the seam sewn around the opening. Work this first part of the fabric through until most of the head is through the opening.

  3. Step 3

Pull the rear of the sock monkey through the hole next, making sure to avoid stretching the opening. Then find the hole for one of the legs.

  4. Step 4

Turn one leg right side out by gathering the fabric up onto your finger. Then grab the tip of the leg from the inside and slowly pull it through the opening as carefully as possible.

  5. Step 5

Repeat this process with the other leg. Continue to work gently because you are almost ready to stuff the sock puppet and begin sewing on the snout and eyes.

Tips & Warnings
  • The key to properly shaped sock puppets is to make sure that all of their parts are completely turned out all of the way to the seam before attempting to stuff them.
  • Use a knitting needle or a chopstick to fully turn each leg right side out.
  • If you have trouble fitting all the fabric through the holes of these types of narrow patterns, you can cut them to make the openings slightly larger and then sew them up after stuffing the sock puppets.
