Lemon is a common condiment used for all kinds of fish dishes. With salmon, which is one of the most versatile fish to cook with, you can use lemons in a variety of ways. Fresh lemons, sliced or squeezed provide the best source of the seasoning, but fresh lemon juice is easy to keep in the refrigerator to use whenever you need it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Brush your salmon with lemon before you cook it. If you really love the pungent and tart fruit, then leave the lemon to marinate on the fish for a while longer, giving it time to soak into the meat of the fish. Consider adding a complimentary spice or herb, like garlic or rosemary, to give your fish more flavor and to balance out the lemon.

  2. Step 2

Bake salmon with fresh sliced lemons on top. Lay the salmon fillets on a cookie sheet or in a pan. Slice lemons width-wide so you have round slices, but thin enough that you can see through them, then lay them on top of the seasoned salmon. Bake at 350-degrees for 30 minutes, or until the fish is done and serve with the lemons in place.

  3. Step 3

Toss freshly cooked pasta with olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and oregano. Add cooked salmon just before serving for a very healthy and light meal.

  4. Step 4

Serve fresh lemon wedges on the side with any salmon dish. The lemon can be added after cooking, as each guest prefers. It makes a nice decoration on the plate and diners can make their own decisions if they prefer to add it or not.

Tips & Warnings
  • Lemon is good flavor addition in Mediterranean or Italian-inspired salmon dishes.
  • Add a little lemon, then taste your dish. Adding too much lemon can make your dish taste too strong.
  • Don't marinate your salmon for longer than 30 minutes in lemon juice or other acidic marinades. Since fish is more delicate than other meats, it can break down the texture and cause your salmon to be mushy.
