How to Choose a Beauty Pageant Emcee
To find someone who can emcee your beauty pageant, you need the same skills as a casting director. Your emcee needs to have good report with the audience, be well-spoken, look clean and professional, and not be checking out the girls or hitting on them backstage. Your emcee is out there, but it may take some searching to find him. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Hold an open call to audition for your emcee position. That way, people will think of it more as a competition and not a favor. You don't have to let on that you're in desperate need and have asked every friend you can think of. Instead, take on the air that being the emcee for your beauty pageant is an honor, a privilege and a role worthy of only the right person.
-
2
Inform your local playhouse or nearby playhouses of the auditions. Actors make great emcees as they're used to the pressure of being in front of an audience, thinking quick on their feet and, moreover, just playing whatever part they're asked to play.

3
Look for someone who can read well, pronounce tough names and work well under pressure. Have a script for each emcee candidate to read, including some odd names, and throw a couple bones at them. Have them improvise situations to see how they'd react in front of a live audience.

Take character into account. Get references of your top three considerations, if you're not a good judge. Your emcee shouldn't be constantly hitting on women or staring at their chests. The women in your competition need to feel safe and confident, and your emcee's demeanor is a large factor in making that happen.

I'm a little taken back that this article insinuates that the emcee is always male. "Your emcee shouldn't be constantly hitting on women or staring at their chests. The women in your competition need to feel safe and confident..." I do agree that the emcee should hold themselves, the contestants, and the pageant itself with the utmost respect; but I feel that Step 4 on your list still needs a more PC feel. How about, "If your emcee is male for a female pageant, they shouldn't be constantly hitting on women or staring at their chests. The women in your competition need to feel safe and confident..." Thank you! -
