A homemade bikini top is great because it's fitted to your unique body. You can make your homemade bikini top in a variety of fabrics, from the traditional swim suit material, to jean fabric. It all depends on what you want.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut triangle shapes out of your fabric, leaving extra space for seam allowance. Remember that larger breasts require larger triangles.

  2. Step 2

Hem the sides of each triangle by folding them in and pinning them down. Use your sewing machine to sew the fabric.

  3. Step 3

Fold the bottom part of the triangle up and pin it, leaving enough space to thread the tie string through. Sew the hem.

  4. Step 4

Sew the straps to the tops of the triangles. Go over the strings a few times with your sewing machine to help them stay on.

  5. Step 5

Attach a safety pin to the bottom strap. Thread it through the openings in the bottom of the triangles. Pull it through both.

Tips & Warnings
  • Before you sew your homemade bikini, pin it together and try it on. You may even want to move around while wearing it so you can judge the level of support it provides. By doing this, you ensure that the fit is right and won't have to correct any mistakes later on.
  • If you already have a triangle bikini top that fits you well, use that as a guide when cutting out your new bikini top.
  • Be aware of what your homemade bikini top looks like when it gets wet. Some fabrics may be see-through when they get wet.
