Step 1
Begin with dry hair and generously add barrel curls to your hair. With a curling iron or a flat iron, curl your hair into a spiral shape, which is the same shape as a barrel. Allow your curls to cool before you handle them.
-
Step 2
Piece out your curls into smaller sections. Wrap your finger around each smaller section of curl to help it stand out from the larger barrel curl.
-
Step 3
Take a piece of curled hair and pin it to your head while it's still in the shape of the barrel curl. The shape of the curl helps you easily hide the pins down in the hair.
-
Step 4
Pin smaller sections when you work with the sides of your hair. Because your hair is shorter, smaller sections make it appear as though you have more volume.
-
Step 5
Leave some pieces unpinned on the sides of your face to add elegance to your up-do.
-
Step 6
Sweep long bangs to the side, creating a slight twist as you pin them back.
-
Step 7
Tease or back comb some of your curls so that they look and feel fuller. This also helps hides gaps in your up-do. Finish with hairspray to hold your look for the entire event.
