Dramatic makeup is similar to everyday makeup, it's just more extreme. You want darker shadows, brighter lips and more coverage with your foundation. Consult with a makeup artist about the right shade and tone of foundation for your skin. A good foundation match will disappear into your skin. Concealor is also helpful in covering blemishes and dark circles. When finished, you want your skin to have a nice, uniform appearance.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Foundation
  • Concealor
  • Pressed or loose powder
  • Makeup brush's or sponge
  1. Step 1

Choose a foundation brush or makeup sponge you prefer. Dampen the sponge or brush to prevent it from absorbing the makeup.

  2. Step 2

Pour a quarter-size amount of foundation onto the back of your hand.

  3. Step 3

Dab moist sponge into makeup and apply liberally all over your face. Cover everything, including eyelids and lips. Your skin should be well covered and a uniform color.

  4. Step 4

Blend until you can no longer see the foundation.

  5. Step 5

Use a smaller brush to apply concealor under eyes and over any blemishes or dark spots in the skin. Applying concealor in the crease of the nose can also help brighten your look. After concealor is applied, blend with the foundation brush.

  6. Step 6

Check hairline and jaw line for foundation lines. It can be helpful to apply foundation lightly down your neck, as well, to keep your neck and face from being different colors. This step is important with dramatic makeup, because you will be applying so much foundation on your face.

  7. Step 7

Set foundation by applying powder with a large powder brush all over your face. Apply powder liberally all over including your eyelids. It will help your eye shadow stay on later.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose a concealor a shade lighter than your foundation. When trying to cover dark circles or birthmarks, use a yellow based concealor.
  • For dramatic makeup, try a foundation with heavier coverage. It will give you the desired look while using less makeup.
