How to Sign Up for iGoogle

The fascinating world of iGoogle gives you an opportunity to create your own personalized homepage to check on and view current information that is important to you, such as your email, your appointment calendar, or the latest in news and weather, for example. It takes just a few minutes to sign up, so read on to learn how to sign up for iGoogle and let the fun begin.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Go to the iGoogle default page and click on the "Sign in" link that you see in the top right corner of the page.

  2. Step 2

    Enter your email address and password that is assigned to your Google account and then click "Sign in." You will be returned to the default screen to enable you to continue to sign up for your iGoogle homepage.

  3. Step 3

    Customize the look of your page by clicking on "Select Theme," and choose the one you like the most from the list of seven choices. Hit "Save." This will change the all-around look of your homepage.

  4. Step 4

    Type in your physical location, such as city and state, and hit "Save." This will apply the right time zone to your page.

  5. Step 5

    Add more pages for your email and calendar, or current news, for example. To do this, click on "Home" and then "Rename Tab." Type the name you want for your add-on page and hit "Enter." To add additional pages, click on "Add a tab," key in the name for the tab, and then hit "OK."

  6. Step 6

    Click on the large blue button located in the middle of the page. This will bring you to the iGoogle widgets homepage where you are free to search for widgets to add to your page. When you find the widget(s) you want, click "Add it now."

  7. Step 7

    Continue adding widgets until you have all that you need and want and your sign-up process is complete.

Tips & Warnings
  • You need to have an account set up in Google to create a homepage in iGoogle.
  • When adding additional tabs, make sure that the "I'm feeling lucky" box is not checked.
  • You can arrange your widgets by clicking and dragging them to where you want them to appear on your page.
  • To set your iGoogle page as your Homepage in Internet Explorer, go to "Tools>Internet Options>Use Current."
