Knowing the basics on how to repair and maintain your truck is important to not only save you time and money, but also to save you from breaking down on the road. While installing your truck's caliper bridge may be a little more advanced, it's a great skill to have.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make sure your truck is secured on jack stands before doing any of the work involved with the braking system, of which the calipers and caliper bridge belong. This should include lifting the vehicle safely and securing the jack stands under the vehicle in the proper way.

  2. Step 2

Remove the wheels and other components on your way to repairing the ball joints. Once the job is complete, start the reassembly process up until ready to perform the re-installation of the caliper bridge. The caliper is all one piece and connects to the wheel; the caliper bridge is a smaller piece located on the caliper.

  3. Step 3

Fit the caliper bridge into place and locate the holes for the two mounting bolts as well as the mounting bolts themselves. These should be in a place where they can not be lost or damaged. Start the upper bolt first and thread it through. Start the bottom bolt second, but do not tighten them down all of the way until both bolts are started. This is to ensure the holes are lines up properly.

  4. Step 4

Tighten the bolts down with a half inch drive socket wrench. You can tighten them down as tight as you can get them since they are made of 18-gauge steel. They are not soft like other bolts and are unlikely to break from torqueing.
