NHRA is basically a drag race to the finish, with two cars battling to win the race. These racers have to take into account the other driver, but their own speed and car as well. A race can be won or lost in a split second, which means that the drivers need to stay focused. The best way to win the race is to be the fastest one and that requires getting a good start off the line.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take a moment before the race to decide what your strategy or moves will be. You can do this before the race, but nothing beats the last few moments you spend in your car before the race.

  2. Step 2

Keep a clear head from the moment you climb in the car until after you pass the line. This helps you focus on the race ahead.

  3. Step 3

Pick a line that you'll run. You want to stay straight, without the car wobbling to one side, which can hurt you in the first seconds of the race.

  4. Step 4

Visualize your start and practice positive thinking. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and imagine the best start you can.

  5. Step 5

Wiggle your steering wheel slightly prior to the race to make the tires move a little. This helps the tires warm up and prevent them from spinning.

  6. Step 6

Drive to the starting line slowly, to pick up any debris from the ground. The debris will warm up the tires and pick up a little extra traction, which can prevent spinning.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't spin your tires! This will cost you a few seconds and maybe even the race.
