You will need to learn how to ride off curbs on a skateboard before you will be able to learn how to ride off larger objects and ollie off a curb. Even though this is a basic skateboard trick, you should still be careful and wear pads and a helmet so that you don't injure yourself. Follow these steps to ride off a curb on your skateboard.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Safety gear
  1. Step 1

Put on your safety gear. This should include a helmet, elbow pads and kneepads. Concrete is hard and unforgiving, so it would be best to protect yourself so that you don't have to take a break from skateboarding to heal from an injury.

  2. Step 2

Stay calm. Riding off a curb is not a very difficult trick, but if you are scared or nervous, you might have a difficult time mastering it. If you are very nervous, find the lowest curb possible to start with.

  3. Step 3

Position your body on the center of your skateboard with one foot on the front of the board, and your other foot on the back. Skate toward the edge of the curb slowly. When your front wheels get almost to the edge, press your rear foot down a little so that your front wheels come up just before they go off the curb.

  4. Step 4

Keep your knees bent so that you will absorb the impact of your landing. Land on all four wheels at the same time. Continue riding away from the curb after you land.

  5. Step 5

Practice this trick until you can ride off a curb with no problem. It should feel like second nature to you before you try to advance to another trick of a higher skill level.
