Sliding is a basic move in street skateboarding. Learning how to powerslide is a matter of concentration and practice. It allows a new rider to become accustomed to feet placement, trick timing and speed. Always remember to wear protective padding when skateboarding.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Approach the slide by riding the skateboarding in the usual manner. This means placing the feet above the boards, comfortably apart, the arms are by the sides and the skateboard is moving at a moderate speed. The knees are slightly bent.

Step2
Spin the body 180 degrees as you lower into a crouch on the back of the board. The left hand and feet prepare to propel as the right positions itself for the slide.
Step3
Pull the board around 180 degrees as well to match your body in a continuous motion from Step 2. This means the back feet push the back of the board underneath the body and from a vertical to a horizontal positioning. The body is off center in the middle of the turn and the change in weight distribution must be compensated for it the arms.
Step4
Place both hands firmly on the ground in front of you as the skateboard swings beneath you and meets your position. At this point, you have both hands on the ground, both feet on the board and the right leg bends to accommodate the swing of the board.
Step5
Gather the board underneath you with the friction of your feet as you rise to a standing position. Push off the ground with your hands slowly until you reestablish balance standing straight up.
