When it comes to riding your skateboard, it's all about the tricks you can perform. Well one popular trick is a Half Cab. It's fairly easy to do, but the position of your feet on the skateboard is crucial if you want to pull it off correctly. Here's how to position your feet for a Half Cab trick.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Stand so that you are perpendicular to your board. Choose which direction you want to perform the Half Cab trick (making sure that it is free from obstructions) and face your board that way. Then stand to the side of it so that you are perpendicular to the skateboard.
Step2
Place your front foot so that it is resting on the back of the skateboard behind the front wheels (also called trucks or bolts.) It will seem as if your front foot is almost in the middle of the skateboard.
Step3
Put your back foot so that it is resting on the tail of the skateboard. This will allow you to get a really good pop when you perform the Half Cab.
Step4
Ride your skateboard in this position for a bit so that your body gets used to balancing in this position. You'll have to make subtle adjustments to keep your balance, since a majority of your weight is toward the back of the board. You are now ready to perform the Half Cab trick.

Tips & Warnings

  • Shoes with flat soles provide a better grip when you are riding a skateboard. Save the clunky high-tops for the basketball court.
  • Always wear protective gear when you are riding your skateboard. This not only means a helmet, but also elbow and knee pads as well.
