Create your foundation. August clown makeup differs from traditional white-face clown makeup in that your natural skin tone can show through. You should apply a bit of tan foundation to even out your skin and create a base for the white and red clown makeup to adhere to.

Accent with white. Apply grease paint around the eyes, going up above the eyebrows and around the mouth and nose. You can experiment with the shapes that you create around your features, but the key is to make them stand out from across the room.

Outline your favorite features with red makeup. The red, a favorite of many clowns, will help your features stand out even more. After outlining the white areas with the red makeup, experiment with the thickness of the outline to achieve the look that you desire.

Practice your application techniques. You may want to remove some areas of color and try again until you get the august clown face you want.
