Flower arranging is more of an art form than many consider it to be. It takes not only an excellent knowledge of flowers, plants and other flora, but also an appreciation for space, color and trends. Tropical arrangements are popular for their bright colors and large flowers, including lilies. You can add lilies to most flower arrangements if you understand the best way to use these beautiful flowers.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Consider the theme and colors you want in the arrangement. Lilies come in a wide variety of colors. This span of colors should help you choose all of the flowers for the arrangement. Pick a vase and decide on the height of the arrangement.

  2. Step 2

Pick, trim and place the flowers you are using in the arrangement. If it is primarily a rose arrangement, get the roses and greenery placed before deciding on the type of lily to use to highlight and complement them. If it is a more tropical arrangement with a wide variety of flowers, decide how much of the arrangement will be devoted to lilies.

  3. Step 3

Look at the partially finished arrangement and decide on the type and color of lilies to include. A smaller lily with multiple flowers on each stem work well to fill in open areas. Consider a dark burgundy color for bright, rich arrangements and soft pinks for a more feminine arrangement. Or choose the bright orange of a tiger lily as a bold flash of color.

  4. Step 4

Clean the leaves off the lily stem by running your hand down the stem. They will come off easily. Hold the stem to the vase and arrangement and trim the stem as needed, find the perfect place and insert it into the arrangement. Take a moment to make sure it is placed where you want it to stay.
