Although an arrangement of flowers is beautiful on its own, sometimes a little embellishment can take it from special to spectacular. Consider these ways to add a touch of ribbon to your bouquet that will increase the color, texture and meaning of the design.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Rubber stamps and ink
  • Glue
  • Glitter
  • Charms
  • Jump rings
  1. Step 1

Select a ribbon color that matches or complements the most prominent flowers in the arrangement. For example, choose vibrant pink, yellow or orange ribbon if you're trying to highlight the Gerbera daisies in a bouquet of mixed blooms.

  2. Step 2

Base the width of the ribbon on the size of the arrangement so the embellishment won't overwhelm the flowers. Try tying a few strands of narrow ribbon around a small vase rather than creating one large bow with wide ribbon, for example.

  3. Step 3

Tie the ribbon around the vase or around the bunch of flowers itself if you're presenting a handful of fresh blooms in an open basket. Weave colorful ribbon through the basket if it has an open weave or knot several short lengths along the sides or around the top.

  4. Step 4

Personalize the ribbon before adding it to the bouquet by stamping it with designs or messages to suit the occasion. You can also coat the ends with glue and then dip them into glitter for a touch of glamour.

  5. Step 5

Add interest by hanging metal charms on the knot in the ribbon with jump rings. Use a bottle, booties or a baby stroller to adorn a baby shower flower arrangement, for instance. (See Resources)

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep the ribbon ends from fraying by trimming them with pinking shears, coating with clear nail polish or spraying with a sealer. (See Resources)
