Big cap fireworks look like big fireworks, but they do not do anything other than shoot off a loud pop just like a firecracker. Firecrackers are different, as they are smaller in size and typically found in strips or in packs. Depending upon the packaging, they can all be connected or come in smaller strips or firecrackers.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Puck lighter
  • fireworks
  • Flat surface
  1. Step 1

Light the tip of a lighter stick, which is typically called a "puck," with a match or a household lighter. Hold the flame to the puck until the tip of the puck turns red. The puck lighter will give you about 20 minutes of use.

  2. Step 2

Read all the warning labels on your fireworks and firecrackers before lighting them.

  3. Step 3

Lay the big cap firework or the firecrackers on a flat surface away from pets, anything flammable or anything that could be damaged by the fireworks.

  4. Step 4

Touch the tip of the puck to the fuse of the firework or firecracker until you see that it is lit. Keep the puck at arms length as you light it to protect yourself from injury.

  5. Step 5

Step back at a safe distance once the fuse is lit to watch and listen to your fireworks pop.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can find waterproof firecrackers, which have a waterproof fuse. These will go off, even if dropped in water
  • When purchasing your fireworks, always ask for a few puck lighters. Typically these are free, but you have to ask for them.
  • Never hold fireworks or firecrackers in your hands when you light the fuse. This could result in serious injury.
  • Always have an adult present with children under the age of 14 when lighting fireworks or firecrackers.
