Cigar box juggling is a variation on standard ball juggling that uses boxes the shape and size of cigar boxes. While not actual cigar boxes, these boxes are commonly used and widely available at hobby shops for juggling. Before you start juggling, you'll need to master the basic grip of the boxes and how to shift grips for different effects.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 juggling cigar boxes
  1. Step 1

Line 3 cigar boxes up lengthwise so that the short sides are touching one another and grasp the top edge of the 2 outside boxes with your thumbs behind the boxes and your four fingers in front.

  2. Step 2

Lift the 3 boxes by maintaining pressure inwards toward the middle box and keeping the 3 boxes in line with tension. Hold the boxes in front of you with their top sides facing your audience.

  3. Step 3

Keep your arms loose in front of you while maintaining tension between the boxes. Your arms should be slightly bent in the elbow, but not rigidly bent or held tight to your body.

  4. Step 4

Lift all 3 boxes with a small hop using your entire body. As the boxes are lifted, let go with one hand and quickly shift it to the bottom of the box and grip the box. Re-apply pressure and adjust the tension to fit your new position.

  5. Step 5

Practice switching the grip with each hand alternately, with both hands together, and grasping the outer edge of the box instead of the bottom or top. Be patient as this basic move is essential for cigar box juggling tricks and effects, but can take some time to master.
