Running an online wine tasting club is challenging. Most wine tasting clubs meet in person, and the ability to socialize and interact is part of the appeal. An online club can be a good way to post information and advertise for other members, while still meeting locally. An online club is also a good option for people who live in areas where there are no local clubs.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start a website that includes a blog and forums. Use wine magazines and the history of the type of wine you'll be tasting as a basis for forum and blog posts. Be sure to post regularly and respond to comments to keep the conversation moving.

  2. Step 2

Choose forum software. To find the one that's right for your website, look at the forums on sites that you visit often. Choose some with a look and feel that you would like to emulate, and ask the webmaster what forum software is used. There are many free forum software applications, including Quicksilver Forums, Phorum, and SMF.

  3. Step 3

Find other members for your wine tasting club. Choose at least one other member who's passionate about wine, and others who are interested in learning. You should look for members who are interested but not expert. Agree on a date and time to meet online or locally. Make it once or twice a month.

  4. Step 4

Set a budget and get supplies. You'll need a wineglass for each member and each wine to be tasted. Figure out how to budget for wine. If you keep members separate and meet only online, each member has to buy his own bottles. If you meet locally, you can have each member bring a bottle or contribute equally to the cost.

  5. Step 5

Choose a theme for each tasting, and publish information about the theme on your website. For example, you can sample the same type of wine from different countries, or different types of wines from one region.
