Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make sure you have all your rugby gear on such as helmet, padding and cleats. Rugby is a contact sport, so you will always be hitting someone at some point to protect yourself or to win a try.

  2. Step 2

Start by heading towards your opponent and go for the legs. Bend down towards your opponent when you approach and push your hands on the opponent's legs. Apply force and tackle them to the ground. This move is called a rugby ruck.

  3. Step 3

Practice doing a rugby ruck over and over again until you can perform it properly. Once you can knock your opponent down on the first go, then you can move onto learning tackles.

  4. Step 4

Run and push your opponent by using the harder parts of your body. Push him with your shoulders, chest and back, if necessary and push them to the ground. In a rugby game, run at the offence and use this technique. This move is called a tackle.

  5. Step 5

Practice the full drill by running and doing a rugby ruck, then gain speed as you tackle the offence. Practice this drill over and over until you can really knock the offence down.
