Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
- Time
- Willpower
- Faith
- Knowing your only human, you're allowed to make mistakes
Step1
FIND OUT WHAT YOUR FEELING:
Identify what you are feeling and why.
Step2
QUESTION YOUR NEEDS:
Once you pinpoint your feelings the next step is to ask yourself, "What do I really need right now?"( step down and ask yourself , I find that it's easier to write it down)
Step3
STAY CONNECTED"
Emotional eaters tend to disconnect from their feelings. We are so busy taking care of everyone else that we forget ourselves. Stay connected to your feelings
Step4
TAKE ACTION
If you need to get out and away from your emotions take action and do something else besides eating. If you feel pressure emotions do something active take a walk, run dance, if your feeling empty emotions do something nurturing, soak in a tub take a yoga class, light candle
Step5
TAKE A BREATHER
When you're feeling upset and headed for food, taking a few deep breaths can relive the urge to eat. It works
Step6
SHIFT THE FOCUS
When your headed to the fridge shift your focus on something else. Look outside, call your friend, put your focus on something else.
Step7
FIND THE FEAR
Most stressful situations are based on fears- fear of losing a loved one, a job, our health, find that fear and try to deal with it.
Step8
LET IT BE OKAY
Once your aware of your emotional eating , the next step is to accept it, make peace with it and don't be judgmental with yourself, relax a little and know that it doesn't make you a bad or weak person.
