Sex can be a wonderful addition to any intimate relationship. However, many couples head into the bedroom feeling apprehensive or nervous about doing "the deed." Men and women alike are frequently afraid of doing something wrong and displeasing their partners, even though such fears are often irrational and counter-productive. Although there's no "perfect" way to have sex, you can follow these guidelines to create the best experience possible for you and your partner.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Have a heart-to-heart chat with your partner about his or her dislikes in the bedroom. The truth sometimes hurts, but being honest with each other increases your sense of intimacy and paves the road to better sex.
Step2
Make sure there's plenty of foreplay. Many men like to head straight for intercourse, but women, in general, need more time to warm up and become aroused.
Step3
Abandon unreasonable expectations before jumping in the sack. Know the limits of what your partner can and is willing to do, and be content with the ensuing experience.
Step4
Be sensitive to your partner's performance anxieties. If he or she seems particularly nervous, use gentle words of encouragement to break the ice and create a positive atmosphere during sex.
Step5
Tell your partner what you want him or her to do while you're having sex. Many people feel shy about directing traffic in bed, but there's no better way to ensure that both you and your partner get what you want.
Step6
Establish emotional intimacy in other aspects of your relationship. Though there are always exceptions to the rule, it's generally hard to be attracted to someone who's grouchy and aloof.
