Step 1
Visit the tattoo parlor where you'd like to get your tattoo done. The tattoo artists should use safe, clean tattoo practices, and you should feel comfortable and relaxed when you discuss your tattoo desires.
-
Step 2
Search for a design that fits on your toe or bring the design with you to the parlor. Toes are small, so the less detail your tattoo has, the better it looks. Simple images like stars, flowers or wavy lines work.
-
Step 3
Make an appointment. Discuss your final choice with the tattoo artist. She's the expert in tattooing and should be able to catch any problems that would arise with the look or size of the tattoo.
-
Step 4
Wear slip on shoes that allow your toe to breath.
-
Step 5
Prepare yourself. The top of the foot and toes are painful places to get a tattoo. Your body will react to the pain. It could be anything from a slight uncomfortable feeling to high adrenaline to nausea. You may not be able to drive afterwards so ask a friend to take you home.
-
Step 6
Care for your new tattoo. The tattoo artist will tell you how to protect your toe tattoo and allow it to heal properly. The top of the toes shed a lot of skin. Be prepared to lose some clarity on the sides of the tattoo.
