Swimming is a great way to get some exercise as well as to spend time relaxing with friends. However if one person who is using the pool fails to use proper swimming etiquette, he can ruin the swimming experience for everyone. Here's how to make sure you and your family use proper swimming etiquette.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Go to the bathroom before you enter the pool. Never urinate in the pool.
Step2
Always take a shower before entering the pool. If you have long hair, tie it back or wear a cap. Wear swimming attire that fits properly even when it's wet. No one wants to look at your wardrobe malfunction especially if it's a family swimming pool.
Step3
Read any posted rules before you enter the pool. If you have any questions, ask the pool manager rather than the lifeguard.

Step4
Keep track of your children at all times. The lifeguard is not a baby sitter.
Step5
Avoid splashing everyone in the pool with your games. Invite other people to play with you if you wish, but if they don't want to play, respect their wishes and leave them some space in the pool.
Step6
Only dive in the diving area. It's the only safe place to dive.
Step7
Determine what the etiquette for the swimming lanes is for the pool. If it is to swim circles, then swim circles. If split lane etiquette is in use, then observe that swimming pattern. Always get out of the way of faster swimmers. If you wish to pass someone in the swim lane, gently tap him on the toe and give him a chance to get out of your way at the end of the lane.
