How to Survive a Water Balloon Fight
There's an unwritten rule in water balloon fights; the driest person wins. Very few things are as exciting as dodging colorful orbs of water while launching your own attack. With some shrewd planning, you could emerge the winner and go home proud and dry.

1
Choose the right balloons. The tiny thin latex version, sometimes labeled as "water bombs," is the best choice for ammo. Larger or thicker balloons require more water to bring them to a popping state, making them heavy and unwieldy when throwing.

2
Store your balloons. It goes without saying that the more ammo you have, the better your chances of victory. Prepare a large bucket to hold balloons and fill halfway with water to reduce the pressure on the bottom balloons, preventing them from popping in the bucket.

3
Carry a smaller storage case. An old backpack, slung over one shoulder makes a handy receptacle. Make sure you only fill it with the amount of balloons you can carry with ease.
-
4
Side step approaching balloons rather than moving backwards to avoid them. If you step back and the balloon pops at your feet, you're going to get soaked. Move at a right angle to the balloons path.
-
5
Catch the balloon if you don't have the time or the room to get out of the way safely. Catching water balloons takes practice. You must make contact with the balloon in front of you but move your arms with it, breaking its momentum gradually to keep it from popping all over you.

Tips & Warnings
If you have time to plan your strategy, place buckets of water balloons behind protective targets, such as fences, trees and sheds. During the commotion, run to your pre-arranged spot and launch a fresh supply of ammo while ducking safely when a water bomb sails in your direction.
