How to Get a National Security Internship
The National Security Department hires a number of college students for internship within their government agency. These students are responsible for writing and working on projects within the group, helping with daily events and doing a variety of other tasks as needed. If you're interested in one of these internships, gather your documentation early and prepare your application.

Visit the NSA website to search for available internships. The Department offers several different internships every year.

Select the "Apply For Job" button to fill out the preliminary information needed. There are other things you'll need to send through email or regular mail.

Print out a copy of your resume. It may be helpful to have someone review your resume for typos or errors beforehand.

Secure two letters of recommendation from current or past teachers or faculty members of your school. The NSA is most interested in those teachers who have a strong familiarity with your work.

Ask your college for a current copy of your transcripts. The NSA requires a current transcript from your institution as well as transcripts from any college you attended in the past.

Gather all of your information and make sure that you have everything ready to go. Applications that are incomplete won't be considered for the internships.

Send the information to either the email address or regular address listed on the NSA website. Those interns that are pre-selected will be notified by the beginning of December.

Tips & Warnings
Apply early. The National Security Department only accepts applications that are submitted between August 1 and October 15 every year.
