If you have a round face, your face is as wide as it is long, or very close to it (within 1/4 to 1/2 inch). Your face is the widest at your cheeks and ears. When determining what hairstyles work best with a round face, many people wonder if bangs are appropriate. The answer is yes. Read on to learn how to wear bangs if you have a round face.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine if your face is indeed round. Measure from the tip of your hairline to the bottom of your chin and then measure from one edge of your cheekbone across your face to the exact same point on your other cheekbone. If your face is a long as it is wide, or very close to it, you have a round shaped face.

  2. Step 2

Layer your bangs, keeping them thin rather than having heavy straight bangs. The straight bangs add weight to your face, making it appear even more round.

  3. Step 3

Sweep longer bangs off to the side of your face. You can let them hang creating a "wind blown" look or tuck them behind your ear.

  4. Step 4

Pin your bangs up and back for a more elegant look. Creating more height at the crown of your head will offset the roundness and make your face appear thinner and longer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid having longer bangs stop right by your ears. Your face is at its widest right by your ears so you don't want to add volume or depth in that area. Keep them shorter or a bit longer.
  • Avoid chin length hair if you have a round face. Go a bit longer or shorter to avoid making your face appear heavier.
