Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Start Microsoft Word 2003, and open an existing document from your files or create a new, blank document.
Step2
Choose the "Tools" menu, and click "Options" to open the "Options" dialog box.
Step3
Select the "File Locations" tab from the top of the "Options" dialog box to display the settings for various file locations within Word.
Step4
Click "AutoRecover files" from the "File locations" list so it is selected. It will be highlighted in blue once it is selected. The file path that is listed under "Location" is the current location where files that are autorecovered are being saved.
Step5
Mouse over and click the "Modify" button from the bottom of the "Options" dialog box to open the "Modify" dialog box.
Step6
Use the "Look in" drop-down list to navigate to where you would like to set the AutoRecover Directory to. Click the folder where you would like to store any files that are autorecovered so that folder is highlighted.
Step7
Utilize the "OK" button to close the "Modify" dialog box and return to the "Options" dialog box. The new file path will be displayed in the "Options" dialog box. Choose the "OK" button once again to close this dialog box and return to your Word document.
