How to Add a POP3 Plugin in Trillian

You can install and setup a POP3 plugin in Trillian 2.0 instant messenger in just a few minutes. This valuable feature will enable Trillian to alert you when you have new emails. Follow the steps below to add and set up a POP3 plugin for your Trillian instant messenger.

Things You’ll Need:

• Trillian 2.0

1. Download and install the POP3 plugin you would like to use with Trillian 2.0 instant messenger.
2. Start Trillian and wait for it to load onto your system tray in the bottom, right corner of your computer screen. Double-click the icon to load Trillian onto your desktop.
3. Choose the "Preferences," and click "Plugins" to open the "Preferences" window. Click "POP-3" under the "Plugins" section on the left side of the "Preferences" window, if necessary. The information for the POP-3 plugin will be displayed on the right side of the window.
4. Click the "Add" button on the right side of the "Preferences" window to open the "POP3 Account Details" dialog box.
5. Type your email address, account alias, username, password, POP3 server name, port, POP3 e-mail program and arguments into the textboxes in the "POP3 Account Details" dialog box.
6. Enter the length of time between checks you want Trillian to use to check your POP3 email for you in the bottom textbox of the "POP3 Account Details" dialog box.
7. Double-click the "OK" button to close both the "POP3 Account Details" dialog box and "Preferences" window. Trillian will now alert you when you have new mail on the email account you associated with the instant messenger.
