Beads, crystals or shells in any combination or alone make memory wire chokers that are beautiful to look at and wonderful to wear. Using memory wire is the simplest stringing method used for making beaded necklaces and bracelets. This versatile wire is made of tempered stainless steel, which will stretch, but immediately springs back into its original formed shape. That makes it an excellent choice for jewelry making.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Memory wire
  • Memory wire cutters
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Crystals, beads or shells of your choice
  • Memory wire end caps (optional)
  1. Step 1

Measure the length of memory wire that is correct for the necklace you are making, allowing 1 ½-inches for the necessary end loops.

  2. Step 2

Cut the wire to the correct length using your memory wire cutters.

  3. Step 3

Bend one end into a loop using your needle nose pliers. Turning the loop away from the natural curl of the wire is the simplest method.

  4. Step 4

String the beads, crystals or shells onto the memory wire in the pattern of your choice. Get creative and use different combinations of beads, crystals or shells to make your memory wire necklaces.

  5. Step 5

Complete your necklace by bending a matching loop into the other end of the necklace to keep the beads onto the wire. Use optional Memory Wire end caps to finish off your jewelry creations. You'll find these at your local Michaels craft store, or order online from Jo-Ann's Fabrics and Crafts. (See link in Resources.)
