How to Improve Xbox 360 WiFi

The Xbox 360 doesn't come with a built-in wireless capability, so to have "wireless" gaming you need to use a WiFi adapter and connect through your wireless router. But if you're trying to use your Xbox 360 to its fullest potential, you want to make sure you're getting everything you can from your WiFi adapter.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather the supplies you'll need to improve your WiFi range. You're going to need to have your Xbox 360, a wireless adapter, a 2-liter pop bottle, an empty foil-lined chip bag, a spork and a roll of aluminum foil. If you can, lay out your supplies near the location of the Xbox 360 console's permanent home and give yourself room to work.

    • 2

Begin preparing your supplies. Turn your empty chip bag inside out. Take your 2-liter pop bottle and cut the top portion off, about four inches down from the cap, and then remove the cap. Now you want to tear off six strips of aluminum foil from your roll, each strip being about three inches wide, but keeping the length of your strips the same as they are on the roll.

    • 3

Wrap your foil chip bag around the antenna of the Xbox 360 wireless adapter. Use clear packing tape to secure the bag, and then place your 2-liter pop bottle top down over the antenna. Using the packing tape, attach the spork inside the bottle top to the antenna and foil bag.

    • 4

Take your aluminum foil strips and wrap the first one around the spork, covering the spork completely. With the remaining five foil strips, cover the pop bottle top by pressing half of the strip inside the bottle and then folding over the other half on the outside.

    • 5

Connect your WiFi adapter to your Xbox 360. Turn on your gaming console and check your wireless strength.

Tips & Warnings

  • Using these steps, the look you're trying to achieve to improve your Xbox 360's WiFi range is that of a satellite dish.

  • Make sure your chip bag, pop bottle and spork are clean, so don't get grease and sugary soda on your console.
