Magic is really the suspension of disbelief—it is what makes magic so magical—reality is lost for a brief moment and illusion takes over. A good magician can make it seem like magic happens all on its own that there is no master in command. Magic is not chance it is a staged deception, or sleight of hand.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • One magic coin
  1. Step 1

Purchase a magic coin from a magic shop. If you buy a magic kit this trick might be included.

  2. Step 2

Inspect the magic coin to make sure that it is held together with elastic bands—it will bend in two or three pieces.

  3. Step 3

Give the coin to a friend in the audience or put it in a jar of coins and select the coin from the jar yourself. You must have the trick coin in order to bend it like superman.

  4. Step 4

Write on the coin on both sides with a Sharpie—don't smudge the ink—you can draw lines or write your initials.

  5. Step 5

Show the audience one more time that the coin is real and that it has writing on it.

  6. Step 6

Grab the coin between your index and middle finger and your thumb. Make it look like it is a real struggle.

  7. Step 7

Adjust the coin so that it catches in just the right spot to give the illusion that it is bent. Show it to the audience and enjoy the applause.

Tips & Warnings
  • You will have to really strain to make it look like you are strong enough to bend a coin.
  • If the audience can see the coin as you bend it the trick will be known and the audience will not believe in the illusion.
