Whether you’re racing on snow or off-road conditions, BMX bike racing requires appropriate gear and safety equipment. Snow BMX racing is similar to any other form of BMX racing when it comes to the gear you will need, with the exception that your thoughts are geared more toward the cold weather climate conditions that you will encounter. Here is how to pick snow BMX racing gear.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Select a helmet for your snow BMX racing. Sure, the snow is soft, but trees are hard, and you never know when you will encounter a rock or hard ice. Never race without a helmet.

  2. Step 2

Select a pair of quality snow goggles to wear. Do not use cheap goggles. Use professional grade ski goggles that are vented to help them resist fogging up.

  3. Step 3

Make sure to wear knee pads and elbow pads to prevent injury in the event that you wipe out while BMX racing. Padding is important.

  4. Step 4

Obtain a ski suit. This is purely optional and considered a comfort item, but the material will help keep you warm and dry while snow BMX racing, allowing you to focus more on the race and less on the weather.

Tips & Warnings
  • Safety gear is typically inexpensive, especially when compared with the medical bills that could add up if you get into an accident without the gear.
