Trailing or climbing roses grow on long canes that trail along the ground or a fence. The trailing roses are excellent for cutting flowers that require minimum arranging. You can turn these roses into instant bouquets.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Trailing roses
  • Hand pruners
  • Vase
  • Water
  1. Step 1

Watch the season. Trailing or climbing roses usually bloom profusely early in the season. Their flowers are often small and open in dense clusters.

  2. Step 2

Choose canes ending in clusters that are partly open and partly still in bud for a longer-lasting bouquet. These will bloom longer than roses that are completely open.

  3. Step 3

Cut each stem about 12 to 15 inches below the roses. Trim off excess leaves that will be below the water level in the vase. Cut the stem at a 45-degree angle before placing it in the vase.

  4. Step 4

Fill your vase with fresh clean water. Add the rose clumps and arrange. Your bouquet is complete.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ferns or other foliage can be added to fill out the vase. Tie a ribbon around the vase for gifting.
