How to Find Tranquility

How to Find Tranquility thumbnail
Tranquility comes from within, but a glorious sky doesn't hurt

You can search over hills, under rivers and through the valleys to find it. You can buy yourself a new house, new car or nab a new lover, but there’s really only one way to find tranquility. It’s called inner peace. It's also not always easy to achieve, but some steps will help you to get there.

Instructions

    • 1

Be nice. Often easier said than done, it’s also a great way to start positive energy flowing in all directions. To get the ball rolling, try to give out one genuine compliment per day.

    • 2

Clear out old hurt, shame and other damaging emotion. This can be done with therapy, writing down a list of all skeletons in your closet and figuring out how you can make past wrongs right and unearthing all your secrets to someone you intimately trust.

    • 3

Treat yourself kindly. Stop beating yourself to a pulp and try to treat yourself as you would a best friend, not a horrific enemy.

    • 4

Love. This includes looking at the world with an optimistic view, finding the good, rather than the bad, in things and helping other people. Whew.

    • 5

Start your day with meditation. Here’s where you get to center yourself, ask for guidance and kick off with a promise to do the best you can. When you know you’ve done your best, you will be rewarded greatly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Being nice doesn’t mean being a doormat. Set your boundaries. You end up letting people know how you expect to be treated by your reaction to them.

  • At least once a week, do something incredibly special, gorgeous and luxurious for yourself.

  • You can live in a New York City basement apartment and be as tranquil as someone on a glorious mountain because it all comes from within.

  • Material things won’t buy you tranquility, but they may give you a quick head rush.

  • Steer clear of negativity. This means avoiding evil situations and people who whine, cry and complain about everything under the sun or, in their case, under the clouds.
