How to make easy Basmati rice

Basmati rice is a wonderful, fragrant white rice that is native of the eastern world. Many shy away from cooking it because they think it is hard to make when in fact it is a very easy rice to make especially if you follow these very simple instructions.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 stock pot
  • about 3 liters of water
  • 1 cup of basmati rice
  • 1 Tsp salt
  • cullander
Step1
fill stock pot with about 3 liters of water and add salt.
Step2
place over med-high heat and bring to a boil.
Step3
add rice and continue boil and cook, stirring ocassionally for about 15 minutes, while cooking taste a few grains to test for tenderness.
Step4
when rice is tender to taste, it is done cooking. Now remove from heat and dump rice into a cullander thats resting in the sink. Rinse rice a little with cold water and allow to drain completely. Rice should be tender and grainy.
Step5
Done. Serve as desired.

Tips & Warnings

  • This way is cooked the same way as one would cook pasta
  • This is a breeze to make after the first time
  • boiling for too long makes the rice mushy, so taste test for tenderness and try not to overboil.
