Step 1
Decide which medical university you would like to go to. Its great to do this before you start so that you know what GAMSAT score you will be aiming for. Each university has a cut-off score which you need to beat to be considered for entry.
-
Step 2
Find out as much as you can about the GAMSAT. Find out what skills it tests, what you need to know, how long it takes, when its held, and as much as you can so that you know what you are dealing with. There is a free eBook which can help with all this. You can get it at www.passgamsat.com
-
Step 3
You need to register to sit the exam in your country. This is done online at www.gamsat.acer.com.au for Australian candidates, www.gamsatuk.org for those in the U.K. and http://www.gamsat-ie.org/ for Ireland. Registration for the GAMSAT UK 2008 began on the 9th of JUNE 2008

Step 4
Study smart. Get the right preparation material, books and attend a course for best results. There are a lot of resources available that will help you with this. The best one to begin with is free at http://www.passgamsat.com
-
Step 5
Give yourself enough time to prepare. Ideally a minimum of 3 months is needed to prepare - remember you are studying to become a doctor so you need to give it your best effort. Thus 3 months preparation is a minimum.
-
Step 6
Stay positive! Its only a small step in the overall picture of being a doctor. There are many great things to look forward to in a rich medical career. So the GAMSAT is only an entry gate you need to get through.
