How to Hook the Cable Converter to your Television.

A picture perfect image like this on your television comes from having the right connection. Understand your television and how it works with cable.

  1. Step 1

    If you are just hooking up a standard digital converter to your television. Take the cable line coming from the wall and run it into the rf in on the back of the converter. Take the single cable line put one end into the rf out and the other into the back of your television. Make sure the television itself is set on channel three.

  2. Step 2

    If you are connecting a DVD Player/ Recorder it DOES NOT connect to the Cable Converter. You want to run the RCA Jacks from the output of the DVD Player connecting the red, white, and Yellow cord. To the input of your television connecting the matching colors. Whichever input you connect it to on the back of the television is the same input you would go to in order to view the picture.

    Example: If you connected the DVD RCA jacks to input one on the back of the television. On the television remote you would look for input select and press that button until you get to input one. when you finish with the DVD Player and are ready to go back to view your television. With the television remote push the input button until you see the channel on the screen you were viewing.

  3. Step 3

    If you are hooking up a HD Converter to your HD Television there are several ways to do this. Alot of cable companies will issue you along with the HD Converter component cables, or you can purchase for a better picture quality S-Video, or for the best Picture Quality HDMI.
    Whichever you are using you start by connecting the cable line coming from the wall to the HD Converter input. Take one end of the component cable and put it into the output of the HD Converter make sure you follow the right color codes. With the other end of the component cable place it into the color inputs on the back of your television making sure you stay within the same color codes. If you are using an S- Video/ HDMI line then you install them into the output the back of Your HD converter that states S-Video or HDMI. Take the other end of the S-Video/HDMI line and put it into the right outlet on the back of your television.
    With the Television remote press the input select button until you get to the right input. * HD Television do not have to be on channel three unless you want to watch digital television.

    * Most DVR are connected the same way as the HD Converter.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you lose a picture on the digital converter check first to make sure the television is on channel three.
  • If your converter loses power and does not reset itself unplug it again... wait for one minute.. then plug it back in the information will take about fifteen minutes to reset but you should get a picture.
  • Most HD Converter work better if you turn off the television and leave the converter on.
  • Before getting frustrated call a Cable Professional.
